Red Hat Gains Higher Earnings Through Subscriptions

Linux distro Red Hat has released its Q2 2010 results that ended August 31, with figures that show a marked increase in subscription rates.

The overall Red Hat Q2 2010 revenue was $183.6 million, a 12% increase from Q2 2009. Of this, $156.3 million came from software subscriptions, an increase of 15% over the previous year.

CEO Jim Whitehurst sees the increase as proof of its good customer base and quality of its products and believes "the company is well positioned when the economic and IT spending environment improves."

The quarterly result details are on Red Hat's investor webpage.
