Sidux 2008.1 – Live CD on Debian Sid Basis

Apr 15, 2008

Version 2008-1 of the live distribution Sidux, which is based on Debian Sid, has just been released.

The developers behind Sidux have added their own packages and scripts to the Debian Sid basis and thus helped the distribution to support additional hardware and software.

The people behind the project are true to their habits with the current 435 MB KDE lite release for x86 and x86 64 platforms and a 1.4GB version with a complete KDE environment which is suitable for systems with both x86 and x86 64 architectures.

Sidux uses the fairly recent kernel version 2.6.24.4, X.org 7.3, and KDE 3.5.9. On top of this, Sidux has new SVG-based artwork, "Ceni", a new build system, and improved graphics detection. From a software point of view, Sidux includes the full scope of programs included with Debian Sid. Proprietary drivers and applications are available from separate archives.

Various Sidux 2008.1 images are available from the project website and various mirror servers here.
