Sundown: Sun's Open Source Chief Moves On

Once responsible for all matters open source at Sun, Simon Phipps is leaving the company (which now belongs to Oracle) and confesses he has no specified goals at present.

In his blog, Phipps describes how he joined Sun via Java One in 2000. Which means he's leaving the company shortly before his tenth anniversary.

Phipps occupied the extraordinary position of Chief Open Source Officer

While reviewing his successes at Sun, Phipps also expresses regret that despite all he achieved, it was not enough to save Sun. As to his future? Phipps is undecided and as he writes in his blog, is not sure of the direction he should now take.
