Ubuntu 7.10 has Reached End of Life

Those who operate systems with Ubuntu 7.10 should look into possible update options. As of Saturday, the support for the distribution is no more.

The Gutsy Gibbon first saw the light of day on October 18, 2007. The support for Gutsy Gibbon AKA Ubuntu 7.10 runs out according to schedule on April 18th. This means Canonical will no longer supply security patches or any other updates for the distribution.

Those who who would like to implement an upgrade must first go with 8.04, then 8.10 and 9.04 or simply stay with LTS Version 8.04, which will be supplied with new packets until April 2011.

Likewise, the support for the first LTS Version from Ubuntu is set to end: in June 2009 the life cycle for the desktop version from Dapper Drake. The server version of Ubuntu 6.06 will be administered by Canonical until 2011.
