Hewlett-Packard and the Canonical Linux firm have announced certification of the Ubuntu 9.04 Server Edition on HP's ProLiant G6 server family.
The family addition from the certification agreement of Ubuntu software and HP hardware provides 17 ProLiant configurations. Tests for certification took place in the Canonical Labs and HP found them worthy. A ProLiant support pack for Ubuntu is a palpable result for users. It includes services, drivers and tools for server management, and will be provided by HP.
HP expanded its ProLiant G6 server line in early June by 11 new models. Some of the models are the first with the six-core AMD Opteron processor. HP considers the new servers "powerful, cost-effective, and energy-efficient."
