The Xen free hypervisor gets a kernel update and new features for version 4.0.
With its update to kernel 2.6.31, Xen moves to one supporting the domain0 (dom0) guest operating system location and uses PVops as the virtualization API of the kernel. A new feature is direct binding of PCI graphic card devices to the VM. Xen provides a list of compatible devices and BIOS on their wiki page.
The accompanying data sheet goes into the new feature details. A download page includes the Xen 4.0 tarball.
