New Version of Vyatta Community Edition

Version 3.0 of the network software by Vyatta has just been released. The Open Source software combines firewall, router and VPN software in a single product.

The latest 3.0 version supports IPSec VPNs between enterprise sites, using 3DES and AES encryption (128 and 256 bit key length) among others. Vyatta can also handle Multilink PPP and is thus capable of using multiple physical connections between two systems – modem and ISDN, for example – in order to increase bandwidth and data throughput for data transmissions. The developers have also optimized the Border Gateway Protocoll (BGP) to support faster routing. The new version is available from the Vyatta website here.
