Partition Magic: Parted Magic 3.5 with ext4

Jan 27, 2009

Parted Magic, the live distribution with Gparted and other tools to create, modify and secure hard drive partitions is now available in version 3.5. And thanks to the Linux 2.6.28.2 kernel, the new version comes with support for ext4 file systems.

The ext4 partition works with an earlier Gparted version taken from the project's subversion repository, which according to developers, has been extensively tried and tested.

New programs include the use of squashfs instead of a 7zip archive for image compression, the xfce-screenshooter-1.5.0 and fsarchiver-0.3.5.

Among the updated software packages are rsync 3.0.5, reiserfsprogs 3.6.21, xfsdump 2.2.48-1, xfsprogs 2.10.2-1, and ntfs-3g-2009.1.1. Support for WLAN cards has also been improved.
A Parted Magic 3.5 download is as ISO image, suitable for CD and USB, now available. Developers request a small donation from satisfied users.
