Alpha Version of Fedora 19 Released
Fedora developers release the first alpha version of Fedora 19, known as Schrödinger’s Cat, for general testing. The final release is expected in July 2013.
New developer offerings in this release include the Developer’s Assistant tool, which provides templates, samples, and toolchains to help with coding projects and lets you publish directly to GitHub. This release also includes Ruby 2.0, the latest version of node.js, and 3D modeling and printing tools, such as OpenSCAD and Skeinforge. And, the OpenShift Origin feature lets users build their own Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) infrastructure to facilitate development and deployment of software.
Additionally, the alpha version of Fedora 19 integrates the optional Syslinux boot tool for simplified booting. The developers state that they “have added support for using syslinux instead of GRUB via kickstart and plan to add a hidden option in Anaconda installer as well.”
The Schrödinger’s Cat alpha release is supported by the Fedora QA team. To report issues, you can contact the team at test@lists.fedoraproject.org or in #fedora-qa on freenode. Visit the F19 Alpha release announcement for more details on the many included features.
