Developers' Favorite: RText in Version 1.0.0
The Java, cross-platform RText editor has achieved version 1.0.0. It recognizes numerous programming languages and otherwise preserves most of its usual features.
The first stable version of the RText Java editor is now available as version 1.0.0. The program provides syntax highlighting, does content auto-detection for filenames without extensions, processes multiple documents simultaneously and knows all the popular programming and scripting languages. Among them are C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, XML, HTML, PHP, Lisp and perl, but also Lua, Assembler, Groovy and Fortran.
RText resolves parentheses, records and plays macros, marks vital places in the code with bookmarks, recognizes shortcuts for code stubs, allows code shifting per drag-and-drop and supports various encodings.
New in version 1.0.0 is integrated syntax detection and highlighting support for Delphi, Scala and BBCode. The editor now also resolves ending tags in XML and file selection is available via breadcrumbs. Finally, bugs were resolved and the graphical interface was updated.
The new RText is under GPL, with optimum download from Sourceforge. After unpacking the software, start it using java -jar RText.jar, which requires Java.
