Monotone 0.37 Version Control with New Features
Version 0.37 of Monotone, an Open Source distributed version control system, has just been released. The new version updates required libraries and adds new features.
SQLite version 3.4.1 is now used as the database, and the Botan cyptography library has been updated to version 1.5.10. Version 5.1.2 of the Lua scripting language, which is used to modify and extend the system, is now supported, including bugfixes.
Monotone which is released under the GPL no longer uses the regular expression syntax of the Boost C++ library, but relies on the more widespread Perl Compatible Regular Expressions (PCRE). As PCRE includes all of the previous syntax, the developers do not anticipate any issues with existing expressions currently in use.
The new revision selector "p:" gives users the ability to select the parent elements of a specific revision. In addition to this, various bugs, such as a crash on certain commits, have been removed. The document has seen various corrections and extensions. The announcement by developer Richard Levitte has more details.
The Monotone homepage has the source code of version 0.37 and a binary package for Suse 10.2. Packages of the current Monotone release for other Linux distributions are in the pipeline. Users of older Montone releases, should read the upgrade howto before making the change.
