Stopgap: ClamAV 0.94.1 Fixes Errors
Free antivirus toolkit ClamAV released a stopgap version 0.94.1 to fix a number of bugs, but also to provide a new feature.
The full list of fixes for the release from Sourcefire are in the changelog. The minor release update nevertheless contains a relatively major new feature called Malware Statistics Gathering.
Users of the antivirus scanner can use this feature to report statistics back to the ClamAV folks, who then hope to gain a better understanding through analyzing this data of malware trends and how attack patterns and methods are geographically clustered.
Administrators who use this optional feature will get their statistics published as summary data on the Sourcefire website in return for their efforts. You can download the GPL-licensed antivirus software from here.
