Fedora 14 Alpha Released
Say hello to Laughlin.
The Fedora Project today announced the Alpha release of Fedora 14, codename: "Laughlin," in honor of the physicist Robert B. Laughlin.
New features included in the F14 Alpha include improved system and session management through systemd, improved JPEG compression/decompression, and enhanced Perl support with Rakudo.
Fedora 14 also uses Spice, an open source solution for desktop interactions with QEMU virtual machines. Another major announcement comes in the form of improved cloud support. From Fedora 14 onward, images for EC2 will be packaged with each new release, allowing access to Amazon's on-demand cloud computing platform.
Fedora 14 also features in addition to KDE 4.5, a netbook environment via MeeGo Netbook UX 1.0
