ActiveState Acquires Phenona
Phenona's 15-year-old founder to join ActiveState's team part-time.
ActiveState announced that it acquired Phenona, a Perl Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) company founded by 15-year-old Daniil Kulchenko. “I created Phenona after a contract job where I found it difficult to deploy a Perl web app to the cloud and couldn’t find a good PaaS solution in the market. It seemed like there should be an easier way,” Kulchenko says in the announcement.
Bart Copeland, President and CEO of ActiveState, says that integrating Phenona with ActiveState will mean quicker time-to-market for cloud solutions. "“The technology, knowledge, and talent from Phenona will extend a key part of our cloud strategy while helping us accelerate our development in this fast-paced market,” he says.
