Elive 1.9.22 Ecomorphs Compiz with Enlightenment
In theory, Compiz effects should not work under Enlightenment. But Elive developer Thanatermesis has now morphed Compiz and Enlightenment 17 to achieve the seemingly impossible.
The new <link href="http://www.elivecd.org/Main/News/elive-development-1.9.22-compiz-released" target="_blank">Elive E17 Compiz 1.9.22</link> uses a modified version of Compiz called Ecomorph, which Elive founder and main developer Samuel "Thanatermesis" F. Baggen says is still in development. The LiveCD is meant more for testers than for everyday use; for example, transparent video playback still has its problems.
Thanatermesis not only adapted the Compiz compositing window manager, but modified the Enlightenment 0.17 (known as E17) graphical environment so that E17 and Ecomorph can work together. To be sure that the new Elive is experimental, "do not expect total stability" according to Thanatermesis. Problems can still exist running it on some graphics cards.
Still, the CD was successfully tested on Macbooks and Eee PCs, and works optimally on Nvidia and Intel graphics cards. Check out the demo video at <link href="http://www.elivecd.org" target="_blank">http://www.elivecd.org</link>.
