IDC: Innovative SMEs are Good IT Customers
Innovation-oriented small to medium sized enterprises will continue to invest heavily information technology next year say the market researchers from IDC.
Small and Medium Businesses who are open for technological advances are referred to by IDC as "SMB 2.0". Although they only constitute 17 percent of small to medium sized enterprises, the account for 30 percent of IT spendings in this sector. Together with their successors in the innovation stakes – IDC refers to them as "SMB 1.5 Fast Followers" – they account for 60 percent of IT investment of all SMB.
Accordint to the IDC study "SMB Cluster Analysis: Targeting Key Market Segments Such as SMB 2.0 Firms" innovative SMB 2.0 companies are a very interesting market for the IT industry. Future-oriented small business will be purchasing products and servcies in the next six to twelve months that will SMBs will not be interested in for another two to three years.
