Monitorix 1.0.0 Monitors Hardware and Software
Version 1.0.0 of the Monitorix monitoring program has just been released. It now shows fan speeds, and CPU, motherboard and hard disk temperatures among other system data.
The Perl application relies on the LM-Sensors and HDDTemp programs. Monitorix uses a Web interface with automatically generated diagrams to display temperatures and other system information. The new graph can display the temperatures of up to nine hard disks and 4 CPUs. The program needs an Apache webserver and Perl version 5.005 or newer for the graphical display.
Monitorix can monitor a variety of system data on Unix/Linux systems: CPU load and memory usage, hard disk usage and I/O, up to five NICs and services such as Samba, HTTP, SSH, POP, and SMTP. The program, which can monitor both local machines and numerous remote hosts, has special support for HP Proliant server Insight management agents.
The program uses RRDTool for logging and to create graphics. The configuration is stored in a simple text file as "/etc/monitorix.conf".
A download of version 1.0.0 is available on the Monitorix homepage subject to the GPLv2 license. Besides a source code archive, there are RPM packages for Red Hat and related distributions such as Fedora and Centos.
