Open Compliance Program Releases New Resources
Additional paper from Ibrahim Haddad added to the foundation's collection.
The Linux Foundation announced the inclusion of additional resource materials for their Open Compliance Program.
The Open Compliance Program was announced in August at LinuxCon 2010. The program is designed to decrease the legal concerns present in open source adoption by providing tools, training, documentation, self-assessmetn checklists, and a standard license report format, , so that open source adopters could instantly identify the type of license and the terms they were then subject to within any open source product.
Since that announcement the foundation has had three papers available on the publications page, covering software compliance, good FOSS practices, and challenges and kernel development. Now, the program has additional material from Ibrahim Haddad, Ph.D. A respected writer, Dr. Haddad's newest contribution to the Linux Foundation's Open Compliance Program documentation is a paper titled "A Glimpse Into Recommended Practices in a FOSS Compliance Management Process." The paper can be freely downloaded here.
The Linux Foundation expects additional resources by year's end including the second part of Dr. Hassad's paper. On October 1, the Open Compliance Program released the self-assessment checklists as a free download.
