OpenSUSE Project Welcomes First Community Elected Board
When polls closed at exactly 12 UTC last Saturday, the openSUSE Project had chosen its first community elected board.
On the openSUSE announcement list, Marco Jung proclaimed the winners: Novell is represented by Henne Vogelsang and Frederico Mena-Quintero with Pascal Bleser and Bryen Yunashko the new non-Novell board members. Chairman of the new board is openSUSE Project Manager, Michael Loeffler, appointed by Novell.
Bleser and Vogelsang received the most votes and so will remain on the board for two years. Yunashko and Mena-Quintero have been elected for one year, hence the next election will take place around the same time next year.
The board will officially lead the Project and will adhere to the openSUSE Guiding Principles. Loeffler, as Chairman, retains a right to veto. Eligible to vote are all openSUSE Project members. Details to the election can be found here. (Novell account necessary).
