Sidux 2009-03: Debian Derivative Brings KDE 4.3.2
With Sidux 2009-03, code-named Momos, the Sidux project provides the next version of its distro based on Debian sid.
Sidux by name alone reveals its origin: the distro takes packages from Debian's unstable sid tree, patches them and thereby brings a distro to the market that is inherently stable. The newest verson bears the code-name Momos and is based on Linux kernel 2.6.31, which supports a slew of new hardware, among them USB 3.0 and X-FI sound cards. The desktop is now KDE 4.3.2, replacing KDE 3 and the Qt3 libraries.
Particularly challenging was integrating SysVinit, X.org and Insserv, whose developers were making countless changes to underlying components. Download from the project webpage will require some patience, as packages are currently not available. However, the ISOs are on the Debian project release page.
