Bricolage 2.0 Web CMS Based on Ajax
The first major release of the software since 2001 provides numerous new features.
Developers for the new Bricolage 2.0 have reworked the user interface for content editors. An Ajax UI based on the Prototype and Scriptaculous JavaScript frameworks allow editing complex document structures without needing to reload. Bricolage also allows copying and pasting of entire subelements as well as search-as-you-type autocompletion.
Technical underpinnings were also enhanced. Apart from Apache 1.3 being still fully supported, Bricolage now also runs on Apache 2 and the mod_perl2 module. The database used, apart from PostgreSQL (8.1 or later), is MySQL 5.0.3 or later.
An overview of changes is on the Bricolage website. Bricolage 2.0 has source code tarballs available for download; the licensing is the revised BSD.
