KDE: Contest for Plasmoid Programmers
Whosoever has played with the idea of programming a KDE miniprogram now has the opportunity to win a Nokia N900. The Plasma JavaScript Jam Session runs until the end of March 2010.
The rules for the Jam Session, which has among its prizes a Nokia N900, a trip to a KDE event and KDE T-shirts, are fairly easy: The miniprogram has to be written in a Simplified JavaScript for Plasmoid API, be under a KDE-compatible free license and be submitted to javascriptjam@kde.org by the end of March. The jury is accepting only one Plasmoid per contestant and it must be the original work of the contestant.
The contest judging panel will publicize all viable entries the beginning of April on the JavaScript Jam Session homepage and on kde-look.org. The entries will be judged according to their usefulness and entertainment quality (40%), originality (20%), beauty (20%) and technical merit (20%). Winners will be announced April 9 on the Plasma homepage.
Programmers without much experience with KDE Plasmoids can find a number of tutorials in the KDE Techbase to facilitate entry in the contest.
