Matt Asay Joins Canonical as COO

Following the withdrawal of Canonical founder Mark Shuttleworth from the day to day running of the company, and his replacement by Jane Silber, Matt Asay has now moved into the free post of chief operating officer.

Asay will be responsible for strategic goals and operational activities. The new man comes from the CMS provider, Alfresco, and according to Canonical's announcement, has vast experience in the world of open source. He is, for example, founder of the Open Source Conference and has worked as manager of the embedded Linux specialists, Lineo.
