Michelson Award for Writer Neil J. Gunther
Linux Magazine contributor Neil J. Gunther (October, 2007 "Stretch!" article among others) has recently been honored with the prestigious A. A. Michelson Award at the Computer Measurement Group (CMG) Conference in Las Vegas.

The award, named after Nobel Prize winner Albert Abraham Michelson, is the industry's highest honor for computer performance analysis and capacity planning. The distinction has been given since 1974 and under the advisement of former award winners. As theoretical physicist, Australian Neil Gunther developed thermoelectronic materials for NASA that were used in the Voyager and Galileo space missions. Among other pursuits, he is now working on new areas of quantum information technology based on photonics. He is noted for his books on queuing theory as applied to computer performance analysis.
