Newsbeuter 1.0: RSS Feed Reader for Text Terminals and Podcasts
On August 20, developer Andreas Krennmair announced the official release of Newsbeuter, the “mutt of RSS feed readers.”
“Exactly 650 days after I started developing newsbeuter, I declare newsbeuter officially 'finished,' in the sense that it contains all the features that I wanted to have in it,” he said.
Newsbeuter can subscribe to RSS 0.9x, 1.0, 2.0, and Atom feeds, and is designed with Unix and Unix-like systems in mind, hence the comparison to Mutt and Slrn. Its generous configurability allows keyboard shortcuts and a ''killfile'' that automatically removes unwanted articles.
Newsbeuter 1.0 is available for download on the project homepage, along with information on dependancy, compiling, and configuration. The open source program is under MIT-/X-Consortium license.
