OpenSUSE Calls Second Board Election
OpenSUSE awards two old and one new executive board positions to two community members and a Novell employee.
October 26 begins a four-week period of application for openSUSE project membership to allow executive board voting rights and to stand for a position on the board. The two-week campaign for executive board candidates starts November 24, with the ballots opening December 8 and closing December 22. The election is to fill three board positions. Two are currently vacant and another was added on the community representation side.
Stephen Shaw (of Novell) and Bryen Yunashko (not of Novell) are ending their term on the board. Linux consultant Shaw had stepped in for Federico Mena-Quintero, who resigned in June 2009 for personal reasons. Board members Henne Vogelsang (of Novell), Pascal Bleser (not of Novell) and current chairman Michael Löffler (of Novell) will stay on another year. So three seats are up for grabs, one going to a Novell employee and two going out to the non-Novell community.

The project team also recommends reading the Board Member Application Mini-HOWTO that Federico Mena-Quintero wrote at the time of the GNOME Foundation elections in November 2006. The Board Election/2009 webpage will publish the candidate list once known.
