SLAMPP 2.0: Live System with PHP, Python and Rails
The Live distro SLAMPP is now available in version 2.0. It is a system of Linux containing, among other things, Apache, MySQL, PHP and Perl, hence the moniker SLAMPP.
SLAMPP 2.0 uses Zenwalk 6.0 as its base along with software packages from Slackware. Package management happens via slapt-get, netpkg or zendo. The distro is bootable from a DVD or USB media and it serves Live and hard disk installations.
With the help of Linux Live scripts, Live DVDs can be remastered so that developers can package their web apps in a Live demo system. The packages included are Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.2.10, Perl 5.10.0 and MySQL 5.0.82. Along with them are Ruby 1.8.7_p174 and Python 2.6.2 with Web.py and Django. SLAMPP also delivers SQLite 3.6.14.2, PostgreSQL 8.3.7, Netbeans 6.7 and EasyEclipse for LAMPP along with network services and tools. A long list of included packages is on the SLAMPP homepage.
The 1.9-GByte DVD image is ready for downloading at a number of mirrors.
