HP Canvasses Sun Customers
HP is looking to facilitate migration of Solaris enterprise users from Sun to HP hardware running on Linux. To this end, HP has now become a sales partner of the Transitive virtualization company.
Server manufacturer Hewlett Packard has signed a sales deal with California-based Transitive, a company specializing in cross-platform virtualization. The Quicktransit software gives customers the ability to migrate business applications on a one-to-one basis from SPARC to Proliant and Integrity servers by HP with x86 architecture that run Linux distributions by Red Hat or Suse (Novell). Customers will be able to use their Solaris applications as previously, the vendor promises.
As a certified reseller HP will be selling the software via its license management segment. Reciprocally, Transitive has now become a HP partner by joining HP’s developer partner program in which HP supports software partners attempt to optimize for HP products.
