New Warsow 0.5 Seeks Demo Shooters
Based on the eSport Duel, first person shooter Warsow is about to be released in version 0.5 and the makers are calling developers to help with demos to promote the downloads.
Anyone who wants to help, grabs the current developer-version, plays the game and gives the Warsow team the best demos. These should show off the latest maps and features of the game. Also, frags should show both the normal and “instagib” modes of play. Warsow developers are extremely interested in demos that display play-scenes that continue after the next opponent death. The demo will be edited by a professional Japanese film-maker called Muff.
Despite the latest version being raised by a mere 0.5, Warsow is still speaking of a “major release” promising some big changes. New is the “Team Domination” mode and old maps re-worked with some completely new. The “Matchmaker” mode seeks out suitable opponents for duels and the angelscript allows players to write plugins for rules and play-characters. The best plugins will be integrated into future versions of Warsow. The 3D engine has been lightly improved and framebuffer-objects are now standard for portal and shadow maps.
The comic-look shooter Warsow is multi-player compatible and runs on a Quake 2 engine. Registration in the Warsow forum is necessary to download the latest version. The exact date of the v.0.5 release is not yet known.
