SUSE Updates SUSE Linux Server for SAP Applications
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 SP2 offers major improvements in performance, security, and hardware support.
SUSE has released SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 2 (SP2) for SAP Applications. According to the announcement, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications increases the performance of compute and memory-intensive workloads, including those involving the SAP HANA platform.
“With Service Pack 2, we’re helping our joint customers that run SAP solutions on SUSE Linux Enterprise take advantage of technology innovations such as SAP HANA and seamless migration to cloud environments such as Amazon EC2,” said Michael Miller, vice president of global alliances and marketing, SUSE.
According to the announcement, major enhancements include updated Linux kernel 3.0 to improve reliability, scalability, and performance of compute and memory-intensive workloads; support for the latest hypervisor technologies, such as Xen and KVM; and an improved installation wizard that eases configuration and setup of latest versions of the SAP NetWeaver technology platform and Sybase solutions from SAP. Additionally, new antivirus tool-kit integration improves cross-platform threat detection.
