Zend Framework 1.8.0: New Tools and Cloud Connectivity
A command line scripting tool called Zend_Tool is available for the first time in version 1.8.0 of the Zend Framework, which also provides connectivity to Amazon's cloud computing service.
The command line scripting Zend_Tool in the new version of Zend Framework acts as a helper for common tasks for projects with diverse settings. The developers enhanced the Zend quickstart guide with details about Zend_Tool. The framework is under BSD licensing and one of the modules of the free Zend Server Community Edition, for which download is available here.
The Zend_Service_Amazon_S3 tool included in the framework is a PHP user-stream wrapper for Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and provides connectivity to Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). The Zend Framework 1.8.0 release notes provide further details.
Zend Technologies CEO Andi Gutmans talked about the future of PHP and the Zend Server in a recent interview with Linux Magazine Online.
