Design Study for the Next OLPC
With an all plastic tablet in design, the story of One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) can well continue. Yves Behar, designer and founder of the FuseProject has released the first concepts online.

Two years ago the XO, first of the OLPC models, went into production. The OLPC project itself then met with some financial troubles at the start of 2009, with layoffs to follow.
Yves Behar created the prototype for the first models of computers intended for children in developing countries. The photos of the XO-3 give the first impression of what the next generation of affordable and portable computers might look like. Behar relies altogether on plastic. The display, like the original XO, can be set to transmissive or reflective mode for inside or outside use, in portrait or landscape positions. Behar also proposes multitouch handling in his blog. First appearances could be in 2012. An interim XO-2 is also in the works.
