LinuxCon Keynotes and Gala Details Revealed
The Linux Foundation announced the keynote speakers and details of the Gala event to take place at LinuxCon North America on August 17-19 in Vancouver, Canada.
The LinuxCon announcement says that the keynote lineup reflects major trends in the Linux market, such as Linux in the enterprise and mobile computing. Keynote speakers include Red Hat CEO Jim Whitehurst, HP Vice President and CTO Phil McKinney, Director of Open Source Strategy at Qualcomm Innovation Center (QuIC) Mark Charlebois, Eucalyptus Systems CEO Marten Mickos, Ubuntu Technical Architect Allison Randal, and author Clay Shirky.
LinuCon North America Call For Participation (CFP) will remain open until April 22, 2011, and speakers are encouraged to submit talks on business, technical or legal developments and how they impact Linux.
The LinuxCon Gala will be held the evening of August 17 and celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Linux. With a "Roaring 20s" theme, the Linux Foundation will provide penguin suit and “flapper” dress rentals on-site.
The winner of this year's Linux Foundation Video Contest, who will be selected by Linux creator Linus Torvalds, will also be revealed at LinuxCon. The video contest is focused on the 20th Anniversary of Linux and submissions are still open.
Registration is currently open and special pricing is available through July 8th, 2011.
