The FTP team at the Debian project have decided that the Affero GPL version 3 licensing (AGPLv3) is consistent enough with the guidelines of the Linux distro that software with the licensing can go into Debian's main archive.

According to an announcement on the HandBrake website, the new version 0.9.3 of the Handbrake DVD ripper comes complete with a GUI.

An article from the Debian-Administration.org community describes how to boot up Debian much faster on an Asus Eee 901. Its author, Phil Endecott, claims to do it within 14 seconds using his method.

The Dillo project yesterday released version 2.0 of the lean browser for download. It’s basically a rewrite of the user interface because Dillo has replaced the older GTK with the new FLTK2 toolkit.

Linux Foundation has released its first beta of the Linux Standard Base (LSB) version 4.0. The providers have already promised developers an easier work environment through the SDK, shell script and application checker. The successes are logged in the FOSSBazaar workgroup.
