Linux Mint 22.3 Now Available with New Tools
Linux Mint 22.3 has been released with a pair of new tools for system admins and some pretty cool new features.
If you're a Linux Mint lover (of which there are plenty), you'll be thrilled to know the development team has made the latest iteration available for you to download and install.
Linux Mint 22.3 “Zena” has plenty to offer for those who like a bit extra in their new releases. Of course, you'll find the usual software updates, such as the latest Warpinator that supports IPv6 and the ability to send texts.
There's also an addition by way of a name change. System Reports has been rebranded as System Information, which is a tool for troubleshooting hardware-related issues. This same tool can also be used to install multimedia codecs and set up a system restore. System Information also collects information for USB, GPU, PCI, and BIOS.
Then there's a brand new tool called System Administration, which allows you to customize the Linux Mint boot menu. The options available are hiding/showing, setting a timeout, and adding or removing boot parameters. The developers have indicated that this tool will gain even more features over time.
There are updates to Captain, which include the ability to install multiple packages via apt:// URLs as well as a new system tray icon that warns if a reboot is required after an update.
Finally, Linux Mint's backup utility now sports an Include All button, so users can quickly add all hidden files and folders to their backups.
Make sure to check out the full release notes for Linux Mint 22.3.
