Linux for Series60 Mobile Phones
Because Lukas Hetzenecker couldn't find a Linux alternative to Nokia's PC suite, he proceeded to write his own with Python and Qt4. The result is now available in version 0.3.
Series60-Remote is an application for Linux and Windows XP that manages Nokia mobile phones with the S60 operating system. The 10,000-line source code provides the following features:
- Sending and receiving SMS messages
- IMs to multiple contacts
- Message history browser
- Message notification
- Contact browser
- Device information
- First run wizard
- Comprehensive settings dialog
- Tray icon to hide the main window
- English and German language support
For the next version 0.4, Hetzenecker plans complete contact and directory management and caller information. Download the Series60-Remote software from the project homepage.
