Linux Mint 17.1 (64-bit)
"Rebecca" is the LTS version of Linux Mint 17.1, with support to 2019. The new edition comes with Cinnamon desktop 2.4 and Linux kernel version 3.13, and the Mint developers promise reduced memory usage with faster execution times. Single-button touchpads are now supported, and users can configure two- and three-finger clicks. The new Mint on this Live DVD also sports a redesigned user interface with new fonts and artwork.
Elementary OS (32-bit)
The light and elegant Elementary OS promises "a fast and open replacement for Windows and OS X" with no ads and no spyware. The developers started with Ubuntu Minimal and built their own Pantheon desktop and apps. The Live or installed version on this DVD is lightweight enough to run on old hardware.
