Uri Herrera, the developer of Nitrux, announced that version 6.0 has been released for general availability. This latest iteration includes a number of important updates that should encourage users to update and non-users to get curious.

On this release, Herrara said, "Nitrux 6.0.0 continues our uncompromising vision of a Linux workstation. We do not design software to coddle legacy habits or emulate other operating systems." Herrera continues, "We engineer for the enthusiast who demands complete leverage over their hardware and understands that true stability comes from a rigidly defined, immutable core."

The first change is the kernel, which is now at version 6.19. The Nitrux kernel happens to include the CachyOS patches, which include performance optimizations, CPU enhancements, filesystem and memory improvements, and wide-ranging hardware support.

Not to be outdone by the kernel, the desktop also gets something new, in the form of the Wayland-powered login screen, Hyprland v.53.3, Flatpak 1.16.2, NVIDIA Open Kernel Module v590.48.01, MESA 3D Graphics Library v25.3.3, and a host of other updates (the entirety of which is outlined in the announcement linked above).

There are also some deprecations to be found, including QtGreet, Nitrux Update Tool System (NUTS) shell implementation, NetworkManager ifupdown dispatch script, and KWallet integration in PAM.
