Not All Browsers Are Evil: Dillo 2.0 Is Here
The Dillo project yesterday released version 2.0 of the lean browser for download. It’s basically a rewrite of the user interface because Dillo has replaced the older GTK with the new FLTK2 toolkit.
With a source code of just 539 Kbyte, the eight year old Dillo is one of the slimmest browsers around. It won’t show every page perfectly, but it is extremely quick. In version 2.0, the developers have migrated large parts of the code from C to C++ and with an own library have solved the dlib reliance on glib. With the new toolkit, Dillo has at last support for UTF 8 and antialiasing.
For Debian and Red Hat/Fedora systems, a download package is already available. Other distros will have to compile the source code themselves, or wait a little while for the relevant packages.
