System76 Refreshes Meerkat Mini PC

Jan 29, 2025

If you're looking for a small form factor PC powered by Linux, System76 has exactly what you need in the Meerkat mini PC.

The Meerkat mini PC has been a popular device for System76, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. That's why the company has refreshed the computer with a much more powerful CPU, faster RAM, and better graphics.

As for the CPU, the Meerkat ships with a 13th gen Intel 4.5GHz Ultra 5 125H CPU with 14 cores, but it can be bumped up to a 4.8GHz Ultra 7 155H with 16 cores. Although the base model RAM is only 16GB, it is DDR5 5600, so it's going to perform quite well. If 16GB isn't enough, you can opt for 32GB, 64GB, or 96GB (all the same type of RAM).

The Meerkat's graphics are integrated with Intel Arc, so you'll be able to play some games.

In terms of ports, you get the following expansion ports: Front ports include 1 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, 1 x USB4/ThunderboltTM 4 (supports DP 2.1 display output), and 1 x USB3.2 Gen2x2 (Type-C, supports DP1.4a display output), while the rear ports include 2 x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A. Video ports include 2 x HDMI 2.1 TMDS, 1 x DP 2.1 (from USB4), and 1 x DP 1.4a (from Type-C), so you can run this baby with four displays.

The base storage is 500GB PCIe4 M.2, but you can bump it all the way up to 8TB. For additional storage, you can add up to an 8TB SATA 2.5” SSD.

The base unit costs $799. If you spec it all the way out, you can run it up to $3,938.

The Meerkat mini PC is available now from the official System76 site.
