Firefox Home Coming to iPhone

May 27, 2010

App based on Firefox Sync adds history, bookmarks, tabs, and Awesome Bar to iPhone.

It's not a full-fledged browser, but for Firefox patrons, it will have to do. The Mozilla project today announced Firefox Home, an iPhone/iPad app designed around Firefox Sync technology. Anyone familiar with Mozilla Labs's Firefox Sync (aka Weave) knows that it allows users to synchronize bookmarks, history items and tabs across multiple computers.

Firefox Home allows this synchronization on the iPhone. Users can access their bookmarks, history items, recent tabs and Mozilla's Awesome Bar, all from within the app in much the same way as popular Twitter apps TweetDeck and Twitter for iPhone.

Firefox fans eagerly awaiting Fennec for iPhone shouldn't hold their breath, as Firefox Home is decidedly light on features. The app heads to Apple for consideration next week. In the meantime, Opera , the only other browsing option for iPhone is available now.
