Adobe Looking to Join Linux Foundation
The Linux Foundation, which also employs Linus Torvalds, has welcomed Adobe as a new member in a press release.
The company is looking in particular to extend Linux to a platform that supports Rich Internet Applications (RIA) and Web 2.0 technologies. Jim Zemlin, the Linux Foundation's CEO, welcomed Adobe's decision as a further step en route to open standards and Open Source.
David McAllister, who is responsibility for standards and Open Source with Adobe pointed to Adobe's existing Linux products, Flash and AIR. He referred to the Linux Foundation as a valuable source to ensure improved Linux compatibility for Adobe's products.
Adobe will officially join the Linux Foundation at the annual Collaboration Summit in Texas early in April. The organization will be meeting with several major Linux players to promote better coordinated work on the free operating system.
