Debconf10 in New York
2010 will see the first Debian developer conference to be held in the US. On the Debconf mailing list, organizing team member Martin F. Krafft, announced the New York venue.
In a three-and-a-half hour meeting, the New York bid narrowly won against strong bids from Boston and Quito, Ecuador. More about the event can be found on the <link href="http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf10/NewYork%20" target="_blank">DebConf-Wikki</link>.
According to the <link href="http://lists.debconf.org/lurker/message/20090224.220647.b25f4b95.en.html" target="_blank">announcement by Krafft</link>, the US had been avoided in previous years due to visa and immigration issues. These problems have now been addressed by the NYC team and doubts of the organizing committee eradicated.
This year's <link href="http://debconf9.debconf.org" target="_blank">DebConf9</link> will take place from July 23. to 30. in Caceres, Spain.
