Fedora FUDCon: Prominent and Learned Guests
The Fedora User and Development Conference (FUDCon) 2009 will run concurrently with LinuxTag at the Marshall Haus on the grounds of the Messe Berlin from Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28.
Visitors at LinuxTag are equally welcome to talks, workshops, barcamps and hackfests at FUDCon. A LinuxTag pass also admits you free to the Fedora conference. There will be a number of prominent developers attending (such as from Fedora, Red Hat and Bacula Systems out of Switzerland) who will be be presenting or visiting.
This year's keynote is by Red Hat's Jan Wildboer, self-styled EMEA open source evangelist. Francesco Crippa, solutions architect at Byte-Code in Italy will present a talk on system management. Tom "Spot" Callaway, Fedora engineering manager arrived there from the U.S. days ago and brought 300 packages for distribution with him. Tom will speak about to make good RPM packages.
German will also be spoken there. Fabian Affolder plans to say a few words about Fedora 11 ("Leonidas") that was released a few weeks earlier. Christoph Wickert will speak more about RPMs and Gerold Kassube has some ideas about how to become an active contributor to the Fedora project. John Linville will instruct about "What's up with wireless" and Jeroen van Meeuwen from the Netherlands will carry on about system configuration management using Puppet. Just a small sample of something for everyone.
Friday night, June 27 is the Fedora Social Event for "friends and family" at a restaurant in the nearby Savignyplatz, with free pizza. Details of the program are at both the LinuxTag and Fedora sites. Visitors and participants should sign up now to receive a free FUDCon T-shirt. Please specify your size.
