Firefox 4 Beta 4 Released
Sync, improved HTML5 support, WebGL support* top the list of new enhancements to the beta.
Firefox 4 Beta 4 is available now and with it comes a slew of new additions including improved support for HTML5 video, an experimental Javascript API, improved WebGL support, and native support for WebM.
Like previous versions of Firefox, 4 beta 4 comes with crash protection for Flash, QuickTime, and Silverlight plugins. The browser also supports touch events on Windows 7 machines, which opens the browser up to touch-based Windows devices such as tablets and netbooks. Firefox Sync (formerly known as Weave) is packaged within Firefox 4 beta 4 by default now.
Among the improvements to HTML5 video in Firefox 4 beta 4 include support for the "buffered" property, native support to HD WebM video, a new parser, and support for additional HTML5 form controls. Add to that CSS animation support for buttery smooth transitions.
Add to that a handful of visual tweaks and a simplified user interface, and you've got a pretty robust update for the open source Web browser.
