Poppler PDF library learns Javascript
Poppler, a library for rendering PDF data, was released in its developer version as 0.9.0. For the first time it enables interactive documents using Javascript.
Javascript has been supported since PDF version 1.3, enabling documents to include interactive elements. While Poppler development branch 0.8.x is the latest robust version, the 0.9.0 branch anticipates what should become the next robust version 0.10.0 in October.
Version 0.9.0 includes, among other changes, support for the JPEG2000 decoder based on the OpenJPEG library. Additional improvements were made to the Qt4 and Glib frontends, and man pages were updated for the utilities.
Poppler is based on Xpdf 3.0 code and is endorsed by the freedesktop project. Included among applications that employ this library are Gnome's Evince and KDE's Okular document viewers.
