Smoother Going with KDE 4.3.3
The KDE project has released an update of its free desktop environment. KDE 4.3.3, code-named Clockwork, brings translation improvements and fixes a few bugs.
The upgrade is worth it, according to KDE director Sebastian Kuegler in his announcement, in that it "will make your life just a little bit better." The KWin effects are now smoother and devoid of visual glitches, the Juk jukebox is more stable and the KDE PIM was improved. A complete list of changes are in the project changelog.
Kuegler also announced that KDE developers are approaching the feature freeze for version 4.4 that should appear in February 2010 together with Qt 4.6. Qt may be holding up KDE's release by two weeks, but it brings with it a lot of improvements, such as the QGraphicsView layout mechanism, better performance and a new animation framework.
Meanwhile KDE 4.3.3 is ready for testing, either by waiting for the distro to provide the requisite packages or downloading the binaries from download.kde.org.
