French Linux specialist, Mandriva, has released version RC2 (codenamed Estephe) of their Linux 2009 Spring.

The Fedora project has released the first beta test version of Fedora 11 after an announced delay from its original milestone.

The Ubuntu 9.04 beta brings along with it a few obvious changes in the GUI and fixes the ext4 filesystem bug that could count among its new features.

Novell announced today that SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) is officially out in version 11. The SLES extensions for Mono and the desktop version SLED 11 should also concurrently hit the market. A high-availability extension is to follow.

After a several-month-long development period, Gnome 2.26 has been released. The Linux multi-platform desktop environment includes improvements to multimedia features and focuses on the stabilization and debugging of issues that plagued the software before the release of this version.

In July this year, the KDE community conference (Akademy) and the Gnome Users and Developers' Conference (GUADEC) will for the first time be co-located on the Spanish Canary Islands. Registration for the event has already opened and KDE is calling for presentation submissions.
