Sony Adopts Google Chrome as Default Browser

Sep 02, 2009

A report on The Register has revealed that Google and Sony have closed a deal to make Chrome the standard browser on all Vaio models.

As is usual in such deals, no financial details have as yet been released. The article further reports that Google is negotiating similar deals with other hardware vendors.

As Sony does not offer end-customers Vaio models with pre-installed Linux, the change in browser will primarily hit Windows PCs. The report makes no assumptions as to how the deal will affect the 64-bit version of Windows. A 32-bit Chrome is currently the only Windows version available.
