French Linux specialist, Mandriva, has released version RC2 (codenamed Estephe) of their Linux 2009 Spring.

Debian developer Ana Guerrero, as spokesperson for the KDE team, has announced that KDE4 will appear during the first week of April 2009.

The Fedora project has released the first beta test version of Fedora 11 after an announced delay from its original milestone.

In July this year, the KDE community conference (Akademy) and the Gnome Users and Developers' Conference (GUADEC) will for the first time be co-located on the Spanish Canary Islands. Registration for the event has already opened and KDE is calling for presentation submissions.

The Ubuntu User Forum reports users with data loss after installing applications on the ext4 filesystem. Kernel developer Ted Ts'o is already on top of it.

The openSUSE team is abandoning its usual half-year release cycle and is planning its next versions for every eight months instead.
